So confession: I grew up in the time of the Olsens. Mary Kate and Ashley that is...and I just love them. Their book, "Influence" highlights their love affair with fashion & designers, including the staples: Lagerfeld, Von Furstenburg. Also along with their millions of other business endeavors MK and Ashley have begun designing The Row, which is FAB.

The Ultimate
At times I indulge in the simple pleasure of browsing through the styles of the incomparable Jackie Kennedy. The ultimate in class, intelligence, sophistication and elegance. I employ the same fashion mantra of Kennedy: that less is more and the woman must wear the clothes and never the other way around.

Someone Ripped Me Off!
Okay..well not really. As Ben Smith reports on Politico:
"An Iowa woman impersonating Sarah Palin apparently made her way on stage at Republican presidential candidate John McCain's rally in Cedar Falls on Sunday and stood right behind McCain as he gave his speech, reacting to the speech like she was the real Palin."
I am dressing as Tina Fey dressing as Sarah Palin for Halloween (will post pictures after Halloween feista) I have down the accent, the mannerisms, the hair, mauve lipstick AND of course the eye wear. However, this woman (The woman identified as Eva Andersen, a music major at the University of Northern Iowa) TOTALLY upstaged me! Im so jealous.

Entering the Age of the Tweet
For those of you who have been hiding under a rock or such and have not heard of Twitter.com, its time for a change. (though its hard not to notice Twitter with CNN's Rick Sanchez around & replacing CNN's news ticker with a Twitter ticker) After joining Twitter only about 2 months ago, I now find it hard to NOT update my Tweets every few hours.
Check out this blog post about Twitter by Nancy Scola and Allison Fine:

I myself just wrapped up a piece for Alabama Public Radio on exactly how the internet is changing political campaigning and the American public's role in news gathering. (I will post the link to listen once it is aired sometime next week)
The internet as a whole is changing the face of politics as we know it...prepare yourself world.

Its October 1st, so you know what that means....
I became so ecstatic when I saw this on Shenanigans on Politico.
I now begin my hunt for the perfect pumpkin and the oh so important perfect costume.
Ideas?
(Im REALLY thinking of channeling the sexy librarian vibe Palin has going on)

Hello Beauties
My Guilty Pleasure
Style on the Trail
Not since Jackie Kennedy has the campaign trail seen such a focus on fashion. The buzz created from Sarah Palin's Kazuo Kawasaki's eye wear alone is astounding.
One thing is clear: whether it be McCain/Palin or Obama/Biden in the White House come this January... the ladies will be looking stunning.
Take a bow ladies.

Some Fall Goodies
My friend Lauren Leonard started her own fashion line this time last year and I am happy to report is doing very well. I helped her as a fit model and therefore reek the benefits of some free goods, thank you Lauren! Check out her stuff, http://leonacollection.com/

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/24/washington/24lakes.html?_r=1&ref=us&oref=slogin Sometimes good things DO happen on the Hill. Tuesday the House voted on a bill to permanently protect the waters of the Great Lakes. If anyone has witnessed the nearly untouched beauty of these lakes you would understand why. Way to go Congress!
Heres of pic of my brother, Tucker and I boating on Lake Superior...

First Taste of Fall
With this being my first post, it is seemingly appropriate to begin with a touch of the season.
This was taken this past weekend as I set out hiking with my roommate (though hiking in Alabama isnt too satisfying due to the fact that there are no mountains...)
While it will most likely be 90 degrees here well into November, it seems nature does take its course here in the South. Shocker.
Ending my long day with much needed Jon Stewart and downloading the many FABULOUS tunes that came out today...Kings of Leon, TV on the Radio, Cold War Kids...and my personal fave, Thievery Corporation- check out thier new cd http://www.thieverycorporation.com/.
