Today's Washington Times featured an article titled, "Under Obama, D.C. turns Fashionable,"
discussing the role assumed by the fresh and youthful (in presidential terms) couple that is the Obama's. No DC couple has been regarded as this stylish since the Kennedy's. Even Fashion Week grew wildly excited at the possibility of Mrs. O showing up, ( namely, Narciso Rodriguez and Jason Wu). Though Mrs. Obama did not in fact attend any Fashion Week shows, the White House was represented in the form of WH social secretary, Desiree Rogers.
It sure is nice to have all eyes on DC in terms of taste and style...though the phrase, "Washington style" must be taken with a grain of salt. Washington is a city focused predominately on power and politics and nothing will change that, but it is nice to add a lil' pizazz to DC.
The District will never over throw New York as fashion capitol... but dare to dream.
